NEWS FROM WINTERINGHAM METHODIST CHURCH
On 13th July a sponsored walk and barbecue will be held. Walkers are invited to gather at the chapel at
10 am. The two charities we are raising money for this year are: Action for Children (formerly NCH) and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research into Cancers in Children. Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy a walk, whether it is the longer walk or a short walk around the village.
The barbecue will be held after the walk so if you would just like to enjoy the meal please come to The Barn about 12 noon.
On 3rd August a service will be held at 2 pm at the Village War Memorial to commemorate the start of World War I. Rev Ian Coates will be leading the service and a wreath will be laid by a member of the Parish Council.
Later in the summer the young people will once again be holding a collection of pennies event for 'Turn on the Tap'. All monies raised by this event go to Samaritans Purse for their water aid appeal, so please start saving your loose change to give to the young people. Last year they raised over £220 and are hoping that this year an even larger cheque can be sent off to help to purchase water filters for people in desperate need of clean water to drink.
Every Wednesday evening our Young Peoples Friendship Group meet and now they are able to use the Barn for all of their indoor activities. Last year the raised beds were a bit neglected as the builders were on site but when the weather has been suitable the members of the group have been working in their gardens. All young people, ages 4 to 16 years, (and their parents too if they wish to come along to enjoy a coffee and a chat) are invited to come along for an hour, 6pm to 7pm.
You do not need to be a member of the chapel to enjoy this social hour or to join in with any of our events. We are always pleased to offer a welcome.
